This past fall, Google teamed up with Life Magazine to undertake the massive task of making the over 10 million photos in the Life archives acessible online. As of November, Google had digitized and uploaded only about 20% of the photos and were steadily adding more each day. One nice feature is that you can search the photos not only by simply typing in a keyword into a search box, but also by clicking on any of the different categories that are linked on the main page. The other feature I really like is that it presents your search results on a page that looks exactly like a normal Google Image search. The only difference is that when you click on a give picture it pulls it up on your screen in a nice large format, complete with a caption on the right hand side that includes a description of the picture and also photographer information and links to other related photos in the database. Love it.
